Merve Özkan Akagündüz

Uzm. Dt. Merve Özkan Akagündüz was born in Edirne in 1988. After graduating from Edirne Anatolian Teachers' High School in 2006, she began her studies at Istanbul University Çapa Faculty of Dentistry in 2007 and graduated in 2012, earning the title of dentist.

Beginning her career as a general dentist at a private clinic in Istanbul, Dr. Akagündüz ranked 28th nationally in the Specialty Examination in Dentistry (DUS) in 2014, gaining admission to specialty training in the Department of Orthodontics at Süleyman Demirel University.

After completing her orthodontics specialty training in 2019, she served as an orthodontics specialist at Çorlu Oral and Dental Health Centre; during this period she built up extensive patient experience and continued active clinical practice throughout the pandemic.

Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Akagündüz worked at a private clinic in Istanbul. In 2024 she founded Özel Dore Oral and Dental Health Clinic, where she has been seeing patients at her own clinic ever since.

In orthodontics, she focuses on clear aligner treatment (Invisalign), fixed orthodontic treatment, and digital orthodontics, aiming for aesthetically and functionally balanced outcomes with planning tailored to each patient.

She has completed over 1,000 clear aligner cases in total. A significant part of this experience was accumulated with ClearCorrect between 2021 and July 2026, during which she was one of the top three ClearCorrect providers in Turkey by case volume. Following ClearCorrect's withdrawal from the Turkish market, Dr. Akagündüz continued exclusively with Invisalign and quickly completed over 500 Invisalign cases.

In 2026, she was honoured on two consecutive nights by Align Technology: on 31 August with the Invisalign Blue Diamond Provider title (the top tier of the provider level system, held by only 120 doctors worldwide and 32 in Turkey), and on 1 September with the APEX Partner title (given to the top 1% of Invisalign providers globally). Starting from Silver and reaching Blue Diamond in less than a year, she became one of the few Turkish doctors to achieve this ascent in the shortest time.
