Clear aligner prices are among the most frequently researched topics for patients considering orthodontic treatment. Clear aligner therapy is a modern orthodontic approach in which nearly invisible, removable appliances move the teeth into the correct position in incremental stages. Unlike traditional braces treatment, there are no metal wires or brackets; instead, a series of custom-made clear aligners is changed at set intervals to advance the treatment.
At our clinic Doredent in Avcılar, Istanbul, the only clear aligner system used is Invisalign. Invisalign is a globally established system that has been applied in more than 17 million patients, is supported by extensive clinical research, and is manufactured using patented SmartTrack material technology. Our clinic holds Invisalign Diamond Provider status, and all treatment planning is carried out by our orthodontist Dr. Merve Özkan Akagündüz.
The cost of Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient depending on the treatment package suited to the case, the number of aligners required, the duration of treatment, and the need for any additional procedures. Even two patients treated with the same method can present very different cost profiles. For that reason, quoting a single fixed price online would be neither clinically nor legally appropriate.
The Clear Aligner Treatment Process
Understanding how clear aligner treatment progresses helps make sense of why the cost varies from patient to patient. Each stage of treatment involves different technological processes, materials, and clinical expertise, and the total cost reflects all of these together. At Doredent, Invisalign clear aligner treatment follows these stages:
Initial Assessment and Digital Scan
The first step of treatment is a thorough intraoral examination by the orthodontist. A 3D digital impression of your teeth is then captured with the iTero Element 5D scanner at millimetric accuracy. Unlike traditional silicone impressions, the digital scan delivers a more precise result and is far more comfortable for the patient. Panoramic X-rays, cephalometric analysis, and intraoral and extraoral photographs are also taken so that the scope of any orthodontic problems can be defined in detail.
Personalised Treatment Planning (ClinCheck)
The digital scan is transferred into Invisalign’s ClinCheck 3D treatment planning software. Every step of tooth movement, from the starting position to the final outcome, is simulated on screen. Our orthodontist then fine-tunes the simulation — the direction and amount of each tooth’s movement is planned at a millimetric level. You can see how your smile will change before treatment even begins — one of Invisalign’s strongest advantages.
Selecting Your Invisalign Package
Based on the ClinCheck plan and the total amount of tooth movement required, the appropriate Invisalign treatment package is selected. Invisalign offers four packages: Express, Lite, Moderate, and Comprehensive. Each differs in the maximum number of aligners included and the scope it covers — which in turn is the main driver of treatment cost. Package selection is purely a clinical decision, and your orthodontist will recommend the most appropriate option for your case.
Aligner Manufacturing and Treatment Start
The approved treatment plan is sent to Invisalign’s production centre, where your custom aligners are fabricated from SmartTrack material. SmartTrack is Invisalign’s patented elastomeric material, applying continuous, controlled force for more predictable tooth movement. Once your aligners arrive at the clinic, treatment begins — the first set is fitted, the necessary attachments are bonded to your teeth, and you receive a full briefing on wear and care.
Active Treatment and Check-ups
Aligners are worn 20–22 hours a day, and you switch to the next aligner in the series every 1–2 weeks according to the schedule set by your orthodontist. Each new aligner moves the teeth approximately 0.25 mm closer to their next target position. Our orthodontist reviews progress against the plan at each check-up and, where needed, adds or removes attachments and performs adjuncts such as IPR (interproximal reduction).
Retention Phase
Once active treatment is complete, the retention phase begins to keep the teeth in their new positions long term. This involves either a fine bonded retainer wire behind the teeth, a removable retainer worn at night, or both. Retention is critical for preserving the result for years to come — if neglected, the teeth tend to drift back towards their original positions, as we discuss in detail in this article.
Invisalign Treatment Packages
In Invisalign treatment, cost is largely determined by the package suited to your case. The Invisalign system offers four packages, each designed for a different range of orthodontic problems. The key difference between them is the maximum number of aligners included — and therefore the complexity of cases each can address:
Express
Maximum 7 aligners
Designed for very mild crowding, minimal corrections, or patients who have previously had orthodontic treatment and are experiencing minor relapse. Treatment is typically completed within 3–4 months.
Lite
Maximum 14 aligners
Suitable for mild crowding, small gaps, or limited bite issues. Often preferred for single-arch treatments or cosmetic corrections. Treatment duration averages 4–7 months.
Moderate
Maximum 20 aligners
Designed for moderate crowding or bite issues. A solid middle ground for cases that go beyond the scope of Lite but do not require Comprehensive. Treatment duration is around 7–10 months.
Comprehensive
21+ aligners · Unlimited
Suitable for moderate-to-advanced crowding, significant bite issues, rotations, and complex cases of all kinds. With unlimited aligners, any refinement steps during treatment are included at no extra aligner cost. Treatment duration ranges from 12–18 months and can be longer depending on the case.
The right Invisalign package for you is determined after a clinical examination by our orthodontist together with the ClinCheck digital analysis. At Doredent, the most commonly used package is Comprehensive, owing to its unlimited aligner allowance and refinement coverage. Because it absorbs any small refinements needed during treatment without an additional charge, it stands out as the safest choice for both the clinician and the patient.
Factors Affecting Clear Aligner Prices
To understand why clear aligner treatment cannot be expressed as a single fixed price, it helps to know the components that make up the total. Each of the factors below has a direct impact on the overall investment:
Invisalign Package Selection
The most decisive factor in treatment cost is the Invisalign package suited to your case. The Express package (max. 7 aligners) is designed for the mildest cases, while the Comprehensive package (unlimited aligners) covers advanced cases as well. The difference in scope between packages translates directly into a difference in price. Package selection is not a patient preference but a clinical decision made by the orthodontist based on the requirements of the case.
Case Complexity and Scope
Every mouth is different. The treatment plan for mild crowding looks very different from one for an advanced bite issue, deep bite, open bite, or crossbite. As the complexity of orthodontic problems increases, more tooth movement is required and a more extensive Invisalign package is used. Complex cases also call for more in-depth planning, which itself requires additional expertise and time.
Treatment Duration and Check-ups
A 3–4 month treatment with the Express package is very different in terms of check-up frequency, clinician time, and clinical resources from a 12–18 month treatment with the Comprehensive package. At every check-up, progress is reviewed against the plan, any necessary interventions are carried out, and the next stage of treatment is set up.
Adjunct Orthodontic Procedures
Some cases require additional procedures before or during treatment. These can include tooth extractions to create space, IPR (interproximal reduction) — removing a minimal amount of enamel between the teeth to create space — attachments (composite engagement points placed on the teeth to help the aligners grip), and the use of elastics. The need for and scope of these procedures depend on your case and can affect the total cost.
Retention Phase
Whether the retainers used after active treatment are included in the treatment package is another important driver of total cost. The retention phase involves a bonded retainer wire and/or a removable retainer. These appliances are mandatory for preserving the result and should be considered an integral part of orthodontic treatment.
Digital Infrastructure and Technology
A significant cost component of Invisalign treatment is the digital technology used at every stage. iTero digital scanning, ClinCheck 3D treatment simulation, SmartTrack material technology, and precision manufacturing all directly affect the quality and predictability of the result. This technological infrastructure delivers a depth of planning and control over treatment that is not available with traditional orthodontic methods.
Clear Aligners vs. Braces Comparison
One of the most common questions from patients planning orthodontic treatment is whether to choose braces or clear aligners. The table below compares Invisalign clear aligner treatment with traditional metal and ceramic braces across the key criteria. Because all three options are offered at the same price at Doredent, you can base your decision purely on your clinical needs and lifestyle:

Frequently Asked Questions
Invisalign clear aligner treatment can be applied across all orthodontic problems, from mild crowding to advanced cases. Mild cases can be treated quickly with Express or Lite packages, while complex cases are handled with the Comprehensive package and its unlimited aligner allowance. Identifying the right package for your case requires a clinical examination by our orthodontist.
Invisalign packages are matched to the scope of the case and the amount of tooth movement required. Express covers very mild corrections with up to 7 aligners, Lite handles mild cases with up to 14, Moderate addresses mid-range cases with up to 20, and Comprehensive covers moderate-to-advanced cases with 21 or more aligners and an unlimited allowance. Comprehensive also includes any refinement aligners that may be needed during treatment. The right package for you is determined by our orthodontist after a clinical evaluation.
Yes. At Doredent, Invisalign clear aligner treatment is offered at the same price as traditional braces treatment. While clear aligners are priced significantly higher than braces at many clinics, at Doredent both methods are charged equally, regardless of approach. This way, you can choose based purely on clinical needs and lifestyle, without having to compromise on treatment method because of budget.
Invisalign is the most clinically researched clear aligner system in the world, with over 17 million patients treated. Its patented SmartTrack material, ClinCheck 3D digital planning software, and continuously refined algorithms deliver the highest predictability of outcomes. Our Diamond Provider status reflects our experience and confidence in the system. Focusing on a single platform allows us to continuously deepen our expertise and deliver the best possible results.
When switching to a new aligner, a mild pressure sensation may be felt for the first 2–3 days. This is the sign that the teeth are starting to move as planned, and it settles quickly. Because Invisalign’s SmartTrack material applies controlled, continuous pressure rather than abrupt force, discomfort is noticeably less than with traditional braces. The lip and cheek irritation often seen with brackets and wires is simply not a feature of Invisalign.
For effective results, aligners need to be worn 20–22 hours a day. They should only be removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. Failure to wear them consistently means the planned tooth movement doesn’t happen and treatment time extends. You can assess how well you’re wearing your aligners with our interactive aligner wear quiz.
This is one of Invisalign’s biggest advantages over traditional braces. Because the aligners are removable, there are no dietary restrictions — hard, sticky, very hot, or very cold foods are all fine. Take the aligners out before meals, brush after, and pop them back in. The only rule is not to consume anything other than water while wearing the aligners (especially hot, sugary, or pigmented drinks); otherwise the aligners can discolour, and liquid trapped between the aligner and the tooth can raise the risk of decay.
ClinCheck is Invisalign’s proprietary 3D treatment planning software. It simulates how the teeth will move from start to finish, on screen. Your orthodontist uses it to refine each tooth’s movement, the order of movements, attachment positions, and the overall treatment timeline. As a patient, you can also see how your smile will look before treatment begins — making expectations far clearer and reducing surprises.
SGK only contributes to orthodontic treatment in specific medically necessary cases, such as cleft lip and palate or severe orthognathic cases requiring jaw surgery. Cosmetic or functional orthodontic treatments — including clear aligner therapy — are not covered. Some private health insurance policies do include orthodontic cover, however; we recommend checking with your insurance provider.
At Doredent, flexible payment plans tailored to your treatment are available. Once your treatment plan is finalised and the total cost is known, our patient coordinator will walk you through suitable payment options in detail.
By the nature of orthodontic treatment, neglecting the retention phase can lead to relapse — teeth drifting back towards their original positions. If retainer wear is followed as recommended by your orthodontist, however, this risk is minimal. At Doredent, retention is treated as an integral part of the treatment plan.
