Gum Aesthetics & Pink Aesthetics

Get information about Gum Aesthetics treatment with the explanation of specialist dentist Merve Özkan Akagündüz.

The gum line of the teeth in the smile line may be distorted due to tooth extraction or crowding. Some teeth may appear long and some may appear short. Gums may be swollen due to health problems or some medications used. Evaluating the patient applying for gum aesthetics from these aspects is absolutely important on the road to success.

Gum disease or brushing your teeth too hard can cause gums to recede. Exposed tooth root surfaces may cause sensitivity and deterioration of aesthetics.

In cases where the gums appear more than 3 mm when smiling, known as gummy smile, the teeth may appear short and misshapen. This situation may disrupt the aesthetics of the smile and make the person unhappy.

The appearance of the gums can be improved with gum aesthetics. For this purpose, gingivectomy and/or gingivoplasty procedures are performed.

Gingivectomy is the process of cutting out and removing part of the gum. It is usually performed by removing the soft tissue wall of the gum pocket. Today, lasers as well as scalpels are used for this procedure. The person does not feel pain or ache during the procedure and the recovery process is quite fast. Gingivoplasty is the surgical correction of the damaged gum appearance.

Slight oozing bleeding is normal after gingivectomy/gingivoplasty. Very hot or cold foods and drinks should be avoided for a while. Attention should be paid to oral care. Gums should be brushed regularly with a soft toothbrush, dental floss and an interdental brush should be used. Medicines prescribed by the dentist should be taken regularly. Aspirin should not be preferred as a pain reliever. Complete healing of the gums occurs within 3-4 weeks. After recovery, old prostheses in the aesthetic area need to be replaced.

Gum Aesthetics (Pink Aesthetics) Prices

According to the price list prepared by the Turkish Dental Association for 2024, a gingivectomy costs 1,800.00 TL, including VAT, for a single tooth, and a gingivoplasty costs 1,615.00 TL, including VAT.

Gum aesthetics prices vary depending on the area where the treatment will be performed. Procedures using laser are more expensive. A clinical examination is required before a price can be given.
