Orthodontic treatment processes typically last for a minimum of 6-12 months. Therefore, it is crucial for long-term planned treatments to be carried out and completed by the same expert doctor for the sake of treatment process, comfort, and patient satisfaction.
In recent years, the trend of opting for transparent aligners for orthodontic treatment by individuals who do not wish to get traditional braces has significantly increased the popularity of clear aligners. Severity of the orthodontic problem: Orthodontic problems can be classified as mild, moderate, and severe. These problems may include misalignment, the presence of gaps, or malocclusion. As the severity of the problem increases, the treatment duration, the number of aligners used, and the variety of materials used also increase, leading to higher treatment costs.
Duration of treatment: It is not possible to give a precise duration for orthodontic treatments. However, an approximate range can be provided. Predicting the treatment duration in clear aligner treatments is relatively easier compared to traditional braces. For example, if a treatment plan consisting of 15 aligners is prepared for a patient, considering the possibility of revision, we can say it’s a process of approximately 30-40 weeks.
Revision refers to the need for additional digital records and extra aligners for any remaining corrections after all planned aligners have been used. There may be no revision needed in some treatment processes, while multiple revisions may be required in others.
The number of aligners: Brands that supply clear aligners usually group their pricing policies based on the maximum number of aligners to be used by the patient. As the number of aligners increases, the amount paid to the company supplying the clear aligners also increases, leading to higher treatment costs.
Your orthodontist will prepare a treatment plan based on their experience and treatment strategy, where the number of aligners can be seen. If your problem is mild, there may be a possibility of completing your treatment with 0-24 aligners. If you have a moderate orthodontic problem, a duration of approximately 24-48 aligners, which may last up to a maximum of 2 years, can be anticipated. In more severe cases, a package with an unlimited number of aligners can be preferred.
